The days are heating up as we enter a beautiful northwest summer! With blue skies as far as the eye can see, it’s the perfect time to capture a little bit of summer’s excitement in your home. The summer palette evokes excitement, energy, and richness with bold colors. Most often you’ll find bright colors, like yellows and oranges, alongside gentle colors, such as pale blues and pinks.

Strong and bold colors such as the soft orange Sunny Days (172) or the vanilla yellow Sundance (2022-50) can be overpowering, but, they make good accent walls to well lit rooms. These powerful colors can be a lot like capturing a ray of sun in your kitchen, as their names imply. If you’re looking to cool off from the strong sun, consider a soft blue such as Innocence (2055-70) or Caribbean Mist (2061-70). Mixing cool colors can open a room up and help fight off a feeling of stifling heat.

My favorite part about summer painting projects is that once a room is painted, it gives me an excuse to leave the house while it dries! Weekends are the perfect time to work outside. Painting a worn down end table is a great excuse to get outside and enjoy the sun. As always, your local Mallory Paint Store is ready to help you with any project you might dream up this summer!
